This page contains the results of the AVID alignment of the Celera and EDGP assemblies of the tip of the X chromosome of Drosophila Melanogaster. These results are discussed in the AVID paper:

Bray N, Dubchak I, Pachter L: AVID: A Global Alignment Program, Genome Research 2003 13: 97-102

and are based on the original publication of the assemblies and their comparison:

Benos PV, et al: From First Base: The Sequence of the Tip of the X Chromosome of D. melanogaster, a Comparison of Two Sequencing Strategies
Genome Research 11, (2001), p 710-730.

VISTA picture of the alignment: page 1, page 2

The VISTA picture shows the gaps in the alignment resulting from misassemblies, and small mismatches/indels (the baseline for the plot has been set at 90% identity). The x-axis is in Celera coordinates.

The AVID alignment is downloadable here (warning: this is a large 14mb gzipped file)
